1 year old Labrador Retriever
Trained and certified at the Florida Canine Academy by world famous dog trainer, Bill Whitstine.
Woody is a 1 year old Labrador Retriever. He was adopted into our family from the Siouxland Humane Society in Sioux City, IA. Woody has shown that he is the perfect dog for our family and business. He loves our two children and our other dog, a 12 year old Labradoodle named Dutch. Woody is very energetic and loves fetch, hiking, and of course, sniffing everything he can!
Woody was trained and certified as a mold detection canine by the Florida Canine Academy in Clearwater, FL owned and operated by Bill Whitstine. Woody is able to detect and identify the specific location of 18 types of the most toxic and commonly found household mold with over 90% accuracy. Maintenance training is critical to ensure Woody's abilities stay at the highest level. We train daily and periodically re-certify with Whitstine to ensure the most accurate results possible.
My name is Dylan Grimsley and I live in Sioux City, IA with my wife, Samantha and our two children. I am a retired Police Officer and spent 10 years serving my community as a member of the Sioux City Police Department. My wife, Samantha and I, identified a need for a better method to identify hidden mold. We started Mold Dog Alert LLC to provide a better mold detection technique than what is readily available. Oh, and we LOVE dogs! Woody and I are excited to provide this service to the Midwest and beyond.
Master Trainer Bill Whitstine provided his knowledge, skills, and 30 years of experience to train Woody to become a certified mold detection canine. Bill is the owner/operator of the Florida Canine Academy and the subsidiary, Mold Dog. Check out Bill's website for his complete history and bio https://mold-dog.com/about/
Mold (fungi) frequently grows in hidden places – behind wall linings, in floors or behind installations – and is often not visible from the outside. When moisture builds up from leaky pipes or roofs, high humidity, or flooding, conditions are ideal for mold growth. Molds are easily disturbed and their spores can become airborne, getting into noses, mouths and lungs. This can cause significant health issues for many individuals. When a scent detection dog alerts, it means the dog has located and is communicating the presence of the specific scent it has been trained to detect, often through a pre-determined behavior like sitting, lying down, or barking. Woody is trained to "alert" his handler when he detects the odor of mold. Mold Dog Alert LLC can then "alert" our customer, to its source.
Woody is trained to sniff, find, and alert (notify his handler) when he locates hidden mold. Typical mold detection devices are only capable of determining if mold is present in the area/room or not. They cannot identify specific locations where mold is hidden. Certified mold detection dogs can locate hidden mold and identify its specific locations. Potentially saving thousands of dollars on costly exploratory demolition. More information here https://mold-dog.com/mold-dog-information/
